Beginner’s Guide On Hearing The Voice Of God: Nurturing The Prophetic Within
Hearing the Voice of God is easy.
What?
Yes, easy.
What is the key and how do you unlock the stream of His voice from the inside of you?
If today you want to start – or grow in – learning to hear God’s voice for yourself, read on!
There are thousand voices all around us, and within us.
The voices of opinions, scientific findings, traditions, culture, media and the people you’re daily surrounded, are numerous.
They are loud.
So, so loud.
Unless we silence them.
You were made to hear God’s voice with clarity. Over all the other sounds.
Every hour, on the hour, moment by moment you’re meant to hear and understand.
Let that sink in –
You Are Meant To Hear The Voice Of God
The question is: “Where are you at in your beliefs?”
What foundation are you standing on? Is it rock-solid? Are you hearing His voice all the time as God has promised in His word?
Truth in our eyes – ‘cause of what we were told from our upbringing – is most likely NOT HOW GOD defines it as.
👉 I highly suggest, before you read on:
Define your foundation by reading my blog on what your life and truth actually is from a biblical perspective!
Then, we’ll build on that.
Once it has blown your old mind, come back here.
With your click, a new window opens up.
You have heard and learned that your identity is in Christ Jesus.
God chose you. YES, YOU!!!
The reason you’re reading this is because God wants you to know that He has singled you out.
He wants you to be His possession.
He longs to be your Father.
A perfect father is loving. All the time.
Is whispering to you, gently guiding you.
Is wiping away your tears, holding you tight in His strong strong arms.
Is attentively listening to the words you utter when you’re at the end of yourself.
He is literally waiting for you. For you to see Him in His light.
He praises you, strengthens your steps with every word that He places in your heart’s ears.
He never manipulates you. Never.
And He protects your free will at all costs.
WHAT A FATHER -
The point is:
He chose you.
He chose you to be His son/His daughter.
Are you His son? Are you His daughter?
To find this out, let’s go back to what Jesus says regarding the definition of a son/daughter of God.
It will also shed some light on why you are not hearing Him as you should be able to!
Why You Are Not Hearing God’s Voice
Outch. What Jesus spoke directly to the faces of the Pharisees that had come to Him must have hurt their pride. They took offense.
I pray you don’t. I pray for Holy Spirit to convict you, to convict me.
God says that He opposes the proud:
Mean?
No, because if you or me don’t believe Him, there is nothing He can change about that. God is never trying to control you. He changes you according to your prayers.
So if you believe lies, if you don’t fully believe that God loves you and chose you to be His treasured son/daughter, His possession and delight –
Then you won’t hear His voice. Just like the Pharisees didn’t understand Jesus’ speech (John 8:43).
Back to Jesus’ rebuke towards the Pharisees. They can become our own rebuke, if we humble ourselves to be able to grow up in the prophetic.
What desires do you have? What do you want to achieve in life?
These are questions to answer God in honesty.
‘Cuz Jesus gives us even in His speech to the proud a clue of how we can change our ways:
He knows us.
Every intention of our hearts God knows.
To hear His voice, we need to be willing.
Willing to hear His rebuke, whenever we read scripture.
Willing to walk in repentance. Daily.
Willing to ask Him to help us. Even to keep us from pride.
PRAYER INTERLUDE: (Pray with me, if you want to grow.)
Father God, I ask you in the name of Jesus Christ, to keep me from all pride.
I want to hear your voice. I am willing to receive your correction.
Thank you for attentively listening to my prayers and answering them. I am expectant. Amen.
Ask And It Will Be Given
About two years ago, God visited me.
One of the things He made known to me was His deep desire – yes, His incredibly deep longing for us - to ask Him.
To ask Him for help!
We don’t have, because we don’t ask.
We don’t ask the right questions because of our filthy desires.
I still feel the urgency from God’s heart for us to ask Him.
It’s like a fire in the heavens that keeps burning, stronger each day, and its call resonates and permeates everything inside this dimension called physical.
We have three wonderful young kids. It’s so natural for a child to ask for help.
They don’t feel ever ashamed to do so.
And how sweet to us as parents when they ask without manipulation but in love and in search for connection!!!
So keep shining. Keep surrendering. Keep asking God.
And then, do the last step constantly too:
Hear The God’s Call
Did you catch that?
Let me show you by experience.
Please re-read the verse and highlight in your mind what stands out to you.
Ready?
Go:
And again.
What stood out to you?
Which words, word groups or phrases seemed to jump out to you?
That’s God’s voice. He is speaking to you.
I know it’s subtle, very gentle, His voice.
When we start a conversation with God like that, His voice is like a whisper.
But the more you hear it, the more the following promise becomes true for you:
When Jesus Christ starts to make Himself manifest to us, then we hear him for sure. And the deeper we go into Him, the more we see of Him.
It’s not a theory. It’s not a how-to-do-list.
It’s a relationship. It goes heart to heart.
No one can fool God. He knows our hearts. He knows our desires. Let’s be real. With Him.
Now how did that work? How did you just hear the voice of God?
You meditated. You took time to read Christ’s words.
There we go:
Jesus said about His own words:
I believe there are no such thing as “just words”.
Every word spoken comes from a spiritual place. It brings either life or death.
Jesus Christ’s words are spiritual and they bring life.
ACTION STEP TO TRAIN YOURSELF:
Train yourself in hearing God’s voice when you read and meditate (think about, re-read or re-listen) to the words of Christ.
Scripture tells us that Christ is the exact manifestation of God. We therefore can assume that His words are pure.
❤️️ Dear Reader:
As Jesus prayed for His disciples I shall pray for you the following, so that His voice becomes clearer and clearer to you, each day more.
“Father God, in the name of Jesus Christ, I ask that you sanctify everyone reading this post by Your truth. Your word is truth. Lord, make us hungry for your word and your truth.
I ask you keep us from all pride, so we never close our ears to Your voice of truth. Amen.”
Love to continue interceding for you!
So from the depth of your heart you can choose the truth, with all boldness.
This day gets brighter and brighter for you until you’re so full you can’t help but turn into this passionate, bubbling over with joy, active, peaceful, loving and life-giving you that you are!
